Our Services

At the Racial Experience Lab, our work centres the experiences of Black and Ethnically Diverse people while welcoming people of all backgrounds. We believe lasting change happens when communities, organisations, and allies work together to build fairness, inclusivity, and belonging for everyone.

What We Offer

Experiential Learning Workshops

Through exploring theory and practice, you will gain insight into who we are, our traumas and how they show up in our daily lives. We then will guide you through the needed cognitive reframing to build the resilience needed to navigate any system.

Critical Awareness

  • Theoretical exploration of the socio-historical roots of systemic racism and intersecting forms of discrimination.
  • Practical exploration of how these experiences shape lives through hidden impacts, lived stories and current examples
  • Build critical awareness of inter/transgenerational forms of trauma affecting BIPOC communities

Optimal Healing

  • Follow effective cognitive reframing strategies to dismantle and reframe internalised narratives
  • Gain the power from self-care strategies e.g. storytelling, journaling, guided meditation/mindfulness, visualisation, and movement, all aligned with cultural practices
  • Theoretical and practical exploration of transformative lived accounts, drawing on necessary methods and strategies

Consultancy

We also partner with organisations to support the development of fair and inclusive practices across all areas of workplace life.

Equity & Inclusion Audits: Reviewing policies, practices, and workplace culture to highlight opportunities that strengthen inclusion and belonging.

Training & Facilitation: Equipping employees and leaders to recognise and address the often-hidden impacts of discrimination, while promoting respectful and supportive environments.

Constant exposure to racism and other intersecting forms of discrimination comes with a traumatic psychological toll. Conditions such as anxiety, depression or fatigue, with subsequent physiological and behavioural impacts often manifest as a result.

When these challenges go unaddressed, both personal and professional lives can be impacted. Many people may feel isolated, withdraw, and find it difficult to engage. Over time, this can reduce workplace morale and lead to the loss of valuable talent in organisations that do not tackle exclusionary practices.

Here at the Racial Experience Lab, we work to mitigate these adversities through holistic practices that prioritise emotional wellbeing alongside wider equity and inclusion. We operate as a collective space where BIPOC individuals can learn, heal, and find solidarity with others who share similar lived experiences, while also welcoming collaboration with allies committed to fostering fairness and unity.

A two-minute glimpse into the identity struggles caused by racism, shared through the voice of a participant in my doctoral research. This segment reflects the experiences of many individuals whose sense of self and belonging has been shaped by systemic racism.
